On April 17, 2016, Kristina Paravalos spoke about her vision for the community at the 3rd Annual Capital Capabilities event. According to the event's Facebook page, "Capital Capabilities is an event dedicated to promoting awareness about the capabilities of people with disabilities through art and other media".
Kristina spoke with NY Senator Paul Tonko and Assembly Person Angelo Santabarbara. She also interacted with guests and therapy dogs!
Kristina's favorite part of this event was speaking to the audience about her favorite things even though she felt nervous. She also enjoyed spending time with the therapy dogs like Edgar Allen Pug, taking pictures by the mural, braiding bread, and art & crafts.
This event was dear to Kristina's heart. It had everything she wanted from dogs, to making bread, art, speaking. It also went well with what she stands for, that communities focus on the abilities of people with disabilities and not their disabilities, so they can spread their wings and fly!
